
Judging by Apostle Paul’s excellence of ministry accomplishments and deep commitment to the Lord Jesus, since after his transformational encounter, it does seem clear and authentic that he knows the secret factor to offer us as believers to accomplish likewise.
Writing specifically to strengthen and encourage the Ephesian church and other believers worldwide and in every generation, his powerful prayer point and admonition for us reads: “I pray that out of his glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Holy Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.
And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long as high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge – that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God” (Ephesians 3:16-19).
If we all are truly transformed people of God, such a powerful love of God in our heart ought to be our daily experience so we truly reflect His glory as His ambassadors and agents in our world.
What does it mean to love God through Christ Jesus that way? Jesus Himself said to us, “A new command I give you: Love one another.
As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are My disciples if you love one another” (John 13:34-35). Jesus further explains that, “If you love Me, keep My commands.
And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever – the Spirit of truth” (John 14:15-16). Hence, in addressing the topic of this Pastor’s write-up, “How much love do you have for Jesus Christ?”
You and I would search our soul to see and evaluate how daily we yield to the Holy Spirit of truth keeping Jesus’ commands as transformed people/children of God. The Holy Spirit is our Enabler and Source of strength and encouragement to do His bidding.
We don’t love Jesus by focusing on our self-willed pursuit or living in sin or engaging in behaviors as if Christ has not changed us. I pray a renewed commitment and life of total surrender to the Lordship of Christ over our life. He is more than sufficient to help us through thick and thin of life.
