We will be focusing on our interpersonal relationships with special focus on our individual and marriage/family setting and beyond.
Whatever we are begins in our home environment with interfacing and interpersonal dynamics impacting one another with consequences.
But since we did not create ourselves, but God did, we ought to go back to the nature of this God according to the Scriptures.
Hence, the title for today’s write-up is “Our God Is a Relational God”. He created us in His own image so we can have the ability to relate to Him and Him to us. Genesis 1: 26-27 declares, “Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over . . . all the creatures. . . So, God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them, male and female He created them.”
That is our faith affirmation of how mankind began, that we are not a product of evolution or that we just came to be by chance with no explanation.
In this Scripture reference, we can see the word “us” referring to God that led to the theology of Trinity of Godhead the Father, Son and Holy Spirit – God, though one manifesting and revealing in three dimensions but in unity.
It is a mystery beyond human comprehension! It is this triune God that chose to create us and His entire universe. We can remind ourselves that without God, we would not have being as per John 1:1-4, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word with God, and the Word was God.
Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made. In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.” This is a reference to the
incarnated Christ, God’s revelation to mankind, the One who gave us the Holy Spirit, the 3rd person of trinity (Acts 1:8).
The conclusion is that because God chose not only to create, but also reveal Himself and relate to us, we too can relate to Him and to one another with Him inside us by the Holy Spirit as a result of our faith in God Jesus.
Our first father and mother, Adam and Eve disobeyed the Holy God’s instruction, hence sin came into our world separating us, causing a wedge obstructing our relationship with Him.
But thanks be to our God who because of His great love chose to unite us back to Himself through the resurrected Christ (John 3:16, 11:25; 14:6).
If you and I really want our heart to be clean and not polluted and experience great interpersonal relationship, we must begin with and be re-united back to God!
